Ayahs’ Home

According to an advert in The Times on 3 December 1868 The Ayahs’ Home is said to be founded in 1825 in Aldgate by a Mrs Rogers.

It provided shelter for ayahs (nursemaids from the Indian sub-continent who were providing child-care services to English families) whose employment had been terminated upon arriving in Britain.
